Research Directions
AISI
AISI
AISI
AISI Lab

JOIN US
The Laboratory of AI & Systems Immunology (AISI Lab), led by Dr. Tiangen
Chang, at the Shanghai Institute of Immunology (SII), Shanghai Jiao Tong
University School of Medicine (SJTU-SM), is seeking highly motivated candidates
for Associate Researcher / Assistant Researcher, Postdoctoral Fellow, and
Research Assistant positions.
Our lab focuses on developing clinically grounded artificial intelligence and
systems biology approaches to understand how tumors interact with the immune
system and to advance the next generation of precision immunotherapy.
About the Lab
Immunotherapy has transformed cancer treatment, yet most patients still fail
to benefit and some experience severe immune-related toxicities. These
challenges arise because anti-tumor immune responses are governed by complex
interactions between tumors, immune cells, and the host systemic environment
across multiple biological scales.
The AISI Lab develops AI-driven computational frameworks and mechanistic
systems models to decode these interactions. By integrating diverse data
sources—including electronic health records, clinical laboratory data, medical
imaging, proteomics, and single-cell and spatial transcriptomics—we aim to build
predictive and mechanistic models that connect clinical prediction, biological
discovery, and therapeutic design.
Our research is centered on computational immuno-oncology, with emerging
applications to autoimmune and other immune-mediated diseases. A long-term goal
of the lab is to build a tumor–immune digital twin platform that enables in
silico modeling of tumor–immune dynamics, virtual clinical trials, and rational
immunotherapy design.
Dr. Chang received his PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and conducted
postdoctoral research at the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI). His work has
been published in leading journals including Cancer Discovery (in press), Nature
Cancer, Annals of Oncology, Science Immunology, Nature Machine Intelligence, and
Nucleic Acids Research. The lab maintains active collaborations with
international institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center,
Huntsman Cancer Institute, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the U.S. National Cancer
Institute, the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tel Aviv University, and Sheba
Medical Center.
